The Free plan

Free is a ContactRoll plan that costs nothing, for a small team. It has what Standard has, with room for 3 members and a few limits, and it carries one line, "Made with ContactRoll CRM", on what your organization shows the public. You can move to Standard or Plus whenever you like.

What Free includes

  • Support email: your support address, the case queue, saved replies, macros, tasks and the help center.
  • Contacts and companies, deals on one pipeline, custom fields, reports and dashboards, as on Standard.
  • Marketing email and sign-up forms, with segments and templates.
  • Calling with your own Twilio account, with recordings.

Free's limits

  • 3 members. Invitations that are still open count too, because each one is a seat waiting to be taken.
  • 1,000 contacts. Sample data does not count.
  • 1 pipeline.
  • 1 support address of your own. The address ContactRoll gives your organization is not one of them.
  • 500 marketing emails a month. The count starts again when the next month begins.
  • 500 marketing contacts: people with a current consent to your marketing email.

Custom fields, reports and dashboards hold as many on Free as on Standard: 25 custom fields on each kind of record, 25 reports of your own, 25 shared and 10 emailed, and 5 dashboards of your own and 5 shared, with 12 cards on each.

What comes with Standard and Plus

These are not on Free:

  • Sequences
  • A/B tests
  • Social posting, including scheduled YouTube uploads
  • Lead scoring
  • Call transcripts

And everything that comes with Plus alone: automation flows, the API and webhooks, roles of your own and "View as", phone menus, ringing a caller's owner first, warm transfer, and the video and AI tools.

When you reach a limit

ContactRoll says so in one sentence, where you pressed, with what you can do: remove something, or have the Owner or an Administrator move your organization to a paid plan on the Billing page.

  • Nothing is deleted or hidden. Only adding more waits.
  • Customers who write in still become contacts. An email, a call, a chat or a help center question from someone new always reaches you, even past 1,000 contacts.
  • An import that would go past 1,000 contacts is held back whole. Before you import, the preview says how many rows fit and how many don't. Remove rows or upgrade.
  • A marketing email past the month's 500 waits until the next month begins.
  • An organization's first marketing email on Free goes out a week after the organization was made.

If your organization comes to Free holding more than Free's limits, it keeps everything. Your team can read and export it all, and only adding more waits.

Made with ContactRoll CRM

On Free, three things your organization shows the public carry one plain line, "Made with ContactRoll CRM", linking to contactroll.com:

  • the footer of your marketing emails;
  • your sign-up page;
  • your help center.

A sign-up form you paste into your own website as HTML carries no line. On Standard and Plus nothing carries it.

How an organization comes to Free

  • At the end of the 14-day trial, with no plan chosen, an organization with 3 members or fewer moves to Free by itself. Members and open invitations are counted together. An organization with more becomes read-only instead; see "Plans and the 14-day trial".
  • When a paid plan is canceled and its paid period ends, the same rule applies.
  • The Owner or an Administrator can choose Free on the Billing page, at https://app.contactroll.com/settings/billing, during the trial, or while the organization is read-only. An organization with more than 3 members removes members or cancels invitations first.
  • After a trial that ended with more than 3 members, the Owner can press Choose who stays on the read-only banner: up to 3 members stay, yourself among them, and the organization moves to Free at once. The others' seats are paused, not deleted, and open invitations are canceled.

Each time, the Owner and the Administrators get an email saying you're on Free, with what Free holds and a link to upgrade.

If nobody uses your organization

An organization on Free that nobody uses for 90 days becomes read-only. It counts as used when a member signs in or uses ContactRoll. Email and cases arriving don't count, so an organization that only receives mail still gets the 75-day email and becomes read-only at 90.

  • After 75 days, the Owner and the Administrators get an email with the date it will become read-only.
  • On day 90 it becomes read-only. Everyone can still sign in, read and export everything.
  • As soon as a member opens ContactRoll again, it works again at once.

An organization on Free is never closed or deleted for being unused. It is closed only if its Owner closes it; see "Close your account".

Moving to a paid plan

  • The Owner or an Administrator opens the Billing page.
  • Choose Standard or Plus, and Yearly or Monthly, and pay.
  • There is no second trial: the first charge is made at once, for each member your organization has.
  • If founding places are still left, your organization gets the founding price; the Billing page says so.

As soon as the payment goes through, your organization has everything on its new plan, its limits are the plan's, and the "Made with ContactRoll CRM" line comes off.

One person, three organizations

One person may own three organizations that are in their trial or on Free at once. To start another, choose a paid plan for one of them first.
