Billing and cancellation

How you pay, and how you stop.

How a paid plan renews, how seats are charged, how to change plan or cancel online, when access ends, and our refund policy. Our Terms of Service are the full terms.

How you are billed, and renewal

  • Per user, in advance. Standard is $29 and Plus $59 per user a month paid yearly, or $35 and $69 paid monthly, in US dollars. Each period is charged at its start. Everyone who holds a seat counts as a user, whatever their role.
  • It renews until you cancel. A yearly plan renews every year and a monthly plan every month, on the same plan, charged to the card you gave at checkout.
  • Tax. Prices are before tax. Where tax must be collected, it is worked out at checkout from your billing address and added to your invoice.
  • Invoices. Every invoice can be read and downloaded from Settings › Billing.
  • Price changes. If our prices change, we email your Owners at least 30 days before, and a new price applies from your first billing period that starts after those 30 days. If you do not agree, you can cancel before it takes effect.
  • Founding customers. Founding customer pricing: the first 25 organizations to pay before founding pricing closes get 40% off for 12 months, then keep the price they started on for as long as the plan is paid without a break. Free organizations do not take a place. The Billing page says how many places are left and the closing date. The founding price carries over a change of plan or of billing period, and ends for good if the subscription lapses.

Seats

Each member is a seat. Adding a member adds a seat once they accept, charged straight away for the rest of the period. Removing a member takes the seat off from your next renewal, with no credit for the rest of the period already paid.

On Free, invitations not yet accepted count toward its 3 people too.

Changing your plan or your card

An Owner or an Administrator opens Settings › Billing in ContactRoll. Under Change plan you move between Standard and Plus, or between yearly and monthly. The difference for the rest of the period is charged straight away; a move to a lower price leaves the difference as a credit on later invoices, never a refund. A founding price carries over.

Manage card and invoices opens Stripe’s page for your organization, where you change the card, the billing address or the tax ID, and read and download invoices. Stripe emails a receipt for every payment. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach ContactRoll.

How to cancel

You can cancel online at any time, with nothing to phone or email:

  1. Sign in as an Owner or an Administrator and open Settings › Billing.
  2. Press Manage card and invoices.
  3. On Stripe’s page, cancel the plan.

The Billing page then says the date your plan stops. Closing your organization’s account also cancels its plan, at once and with no refund for the rest of the period; if Stripe can’t be reached just then, nothing is closed and the page says so.

When access ends

  • After you cancel, you keep your paid plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. Then an organization of 3 people or fewer moves to Free, and a larger one becomes read-only until it subscribes again or closes its account.
  • Read-only means everyone can still sign in, read everything and export everything, and email to your support address is still received and kept; nobody can change anything, send email or make or take calls.
  • If a payment fails, we email the people who manage billing, Stripe tries the payment again, and everything keeps working. If the bill is still unpaid at least 7 days after that email, your organization may become read-only. Paying restores everything straight away. An organization read-only for non-payment for 30 days is closed.
  • If you close your account, access stops at once for everyone. For 30 days an Owner can reopen it and export everything; after that, your data is deleted within a further 30 days. Closing cancels a paid plan at once, with no refund for the rest of the period already paid. Your data is yours says more.

Refunds

We do not give refunds for any billing period, in whole or in part, including when you cancel or close your account. When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for. A seat you remove counts from your next renewal, with no credit for the rest of the period already paid.

The one exception: if we stop offering ContactRoll altogether, we give your Owners at least 30 days’ notice by email, keep export open during that time, and refund any fees you have paid for time after the service ends.

Questions

Does my plan renew by itself?

Yes. A yearly plan renews every year and a monthly plan every month, on the same plan and for your seats at the time, until you cancel. Each period is charged in advance to the card you gave at checkout.

How do I cancel?

Online, at any time. An Owner or an Administrator opens Settings › Billing in ContactRoll, presses Manage card and invoices, and cancels on Stripe’s page. There is nothing to phone or email.

When does access end after I cancel?

At the end of the period you have already paid for. Until then everything works as before. Then a team of 3 people or fewer moves to Free, and a larger team becomes read-only until it subscribes again or closes its account.

Do you give refunds?

No, not for any billing period, in whole or in part, including when you cancel or close your account. The one exception: if we stop offering ContactRoll altogether, we refund the fees you have paid for time after the service ends.

What if we add or remove people?

Each member is a seat. Adding a member adds a seat once they accept, charged straight away for the rest of the period. Removing a member takes the seat off from your next renewal, with no credit for the rest of the period already paid.
