Record types of your own, linked the way your business works
Not everything a team keeps is a contact, a company, a deal or a case. On Plus you add record types of your own, and on every plan you link records to each other the way they really relate: a person at several companies, a deal that points to the customer who referred it, a company that totals its open deals.
Your own record types
An Owner or Administrator names the type (one bank feed, many bank feeds), picks an icon and says what its name field is called. It appears in the sidebar under Records, with a list, a page for each record and everything the built-in types have.
- Up to 5 types, 50 fields a type and 100,000 records a type.
- Saved views and boards, notes and mentions, a timeline, search, merging duplicates, importing from a CSV file and exporting.
- In the report builder, in automation flows, in the audit log, and over the API with webhooks for each change.

Linked to contacts, companies, deals and cases
A record links to as many contacts, companies, deals and cases as it belongs to, each link with an optional role. The link shows on both sides: the bank feed names its company, and the company’s page lists its bank feeds.
Roll-up fields work across those links. A company can total its open deals or count its records of your own type, and the number stays current as the records change.

A contact at several companies, each with a role
People rarely belong to one company. On every plan a contact can be linked to several, each link with the role they hold there, and one marked as their primary company. Merging two contacts keeps every link, and exports carry them all.

Answers to two common questions
“Does it handle complex relational data?”
For a team of 10 to 25, the relations that matter are covered, all live today: records of your own types; links between any record and contacts, companies, deals and cases, each with a role; contacts at several companies; lookup, calculated and roll-up fields; and reports that count one record type through another, such as cases grouped by the stage of their deal. Who may see each type is set per role.
It is built for a handful of record types, not dozens: up to 5 of your own, each linking to the four built-in types and through lookup fields, rather than to a schema you draw.
“Does it connect to my other tools?”
ContactRoll has no app marketplace. It connects to Twilio, Google, Stripe, GitHub and the social networks itself, and to anything else through its API and webhooks, records of your own types included. Every integration lists what works today and what is coming.
Questions
Does ContactRoll have custom objects?
Yes, on Plus. An Owner or Administrator makes up to 5 record types of the organization's own, such as properties, vehicles, subscriptions or bank feeds, each with up to 50 fields of its own and up to 100,000 records.
Can one contact belong to several companies?
Yes, on every plan. A contact can be linked to as many companies as they work with, each link with a role such as Owner or Bookkeeper, and one company marked as their primary.
Can a record point to another record?
Yes. A lookup field links a record to one contact, company, deal or record of your own type, and the link is a link you can follow. A roll-up field totals or counts what is linked, such as a company’s open deals.
Can different teams see different record types?
Yes. For each record type, each role of your own can be allowed to see, add, change and delete its records, or not. Each custom field can also be hidden from a role, or shown to it read-only.
How many record types can we make?
Up to 5, on Plus, each with up to 50 fields and 100,000 records. A type can be renamed at any time, and deleted once it holds no records.
