Collect sign-ups with a confirmed opt-in form

Your sign-up form is a page anybody can reach, where people ask to hear from you. They give their email and name and tick a box in your words. They are signed up once they press the button in the confirmation email it sends them, and that press is kept as the evidence of their marketing consent.

On the Free plan, the sign-up page carries one line at the bottom, "Made with ContactRoll CRM", linking to contactroll.com. The form you paste into your own site carries none.

Set up the form

  1. Open Marketing, then Sign-up, at https://app.contactroll.com/marketing/signup.
  2. Press Set up the form.
  3. Tick Taking sign-ups.
  4. Fill in a Heading (optional) and The words beside the box they tick.
  5. Add Your privacy policy. It is linked beside the box, and the form takes sign-ups once it is there.
  6. Optionally choose a list under Add each confirmed sign-up to, and The product it is for.
  7. Press Save the form.

The form's address is shown under Its address, on your ContactRoll address with /join/ and the form's own code. Share it, or link to it from your site. Change the form edits it later. Give it a new address replaces the address, and the old one stops working.

Put it on your own site

Under On your own site, copy The form, as HTML and paste it into any page of your site. It is a plain form with no script, and it works exactly like the page: the same words, the same limits, the same confirmation email.

What happens when somebody signs up

  1. They fill in the form and tick the box.
  2. ContactRoll sends a confirmation email from your organization's sending identity.
  3. The email's link opens a page with a button. When they press it, ContactRoll records their marketing consent with its evidence (when they signed up and confirmed, from where, and the words they agreed to), adds them to the form's list, and marks the sign-up confirmed.

A confirmed sign-up can start a sequence ("They confirm a sign-up") or a flow. A person's own confirmed sign-up also lifts an earlier unsubscribe of theirs.

Until they confirm, the contact page says "Sign-up not confirmed". These people stay out of segments, lists and audiences. A sign-up nobody confirms is deleted after seven days, along with the contact it made if nothing else has happened to it.

Recent sign-ups

Recent sign-ups lists each sign-up, who it was and where it stands, with a link to their contact.

Limits that keep it clean

Each address can sign up three times a day with your organization, and each network address a limited number of times an hour. Past either limit, the page answers just as it does for a success and records nothing, so it gives nothing away about who is on your list.

Who can do what

Owners, Administrators and Marketers keep the sign-up form and its topics.
