HubSpot alternative
A HubSpot alternative for small teams
A small team that wants support with a knowledge base and a phone menu needs Service Hub Professional for every person, a $1,500 onboarding fee to start, and a separate Marketing Hub for email. ContactRoll puts the same four jobs in one product with one price per person, and calls billed by Twilio at its own rates.
HubSpot and ContactRoll, need by need
HubSpot sells a CRM with separate hubs for marketing, sales and customer service, each in Starter, Professional and Enterprise editions, priced by the seat. Its Professional editions carry a required one-time onboarding fee. [1]
| What a small team needs | HubSpot | ContactRoll |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts, companies and a deals pipeline | Yes, in every paid hub: contacts, companies and deal pipelines (15 pipelines on Starter, 100 on Professional). [1] | Every plan, Free included; Free has one pipeline. |
| Support email as cases in a shared queue | Tickets and a help desk inbox in Service Hub. [1] | Every plan, Free included: each email opens a case anyone can take. Free has one support address of your own. |
| Knowledge articles and a public help center | Service Hub Professional and up: one knowledge base with 2,000 articles. Not on Starter. [1] | Every plan, Free included. |
| Calls in the browser, with recording and transfer | Calls in the browser with recording, on HubSpot numbers: 500 minutes a month for the account on Starter, 3,000 on Professional; more at $50 per 1,000. [1][2] | Every plan, Free included, through your own Twilio account: call groups, voicemail, recording, hold and transfer. |
| A phone menu for callers | Professional and up. A menu branch rings one person only if that person holds an Enterprise seat. [1][3] | Plus, from ready-made templates, with owner-first ringing and warm transfer. |
| Marketing email to about 2,000 people | Marketing Hub, a separate hub: Starter includes 1,000 marketing contacts, $50 a month for each 1,000 more. [1] | Every plan: 500 marketing contacts and 500 emails a month on Free, 2,000 marketing contacts on Standard, 10,000 on Plus. |
| Automation | Workflows: 50 on Starter, 300 on Professional. [1] | Plus: automation flows. Standard and Plus: sequences started by what a customer does. |
| Roles and who sees what | Permission templates on Starter and Professional; custom permission sets on Enterprise. [1] | Every plan: nine ready-made roles and scopes. Plus: roles of your own. |
| An API and webhooks | Yes, with daily limits by edition. [4] | Plus. |
What it costs a team of five, and of ten
Service Hub Professional for every person (tickets, the knowledge base, calling with a phone menu and the CRM’s deals), Marketing Hub Starter for email, and room for 2,000 marketing contacts. List prices, per month, paid yearly, in US dollars, before tax.
| What the team buys | 5 people | 10 people |
|---|---|---|
| Service Hub Professional, $100 a seat [1] | $500 | $1,000 |
| Marketing Hub Starter, one seat [1] | $20 | $20 |
| 1,000 more marketing contacts on Starter [1] | $50 | $50 |
| HubSpot, about (and $1,500 required onboarding for Service Hub Professional) | $570 | $1,070 |
| ContactRoll Plus, $59 a person | $295 | $590 |
| ContactRoll Standard, $29 a person: the CRM, support cases, calling with call groups, recording and cold transfer, and marketing email to 2,000 | $145 | $290 |
HubSpot’s catalog list prices. HubSpot’s catalog prices every Core Seat at the highest edition in an account, so the Marketing Hub seat may be $50 rather than $20. Minutes past the account’s 3,000 a month, and taxes, are not included. HubSpot’s pricing page draws its prices with a script and was not read; on October 11, 2026 it showed Service Hub Professional at $90 a seat paid yearly. ContactRoll’s calls are billed by Twilio to your own account, with no markup: for example, 2,000 minutes a month in the browser, half of them recorded, with one number, come to about $34 at Twilio’s published US rates (a call put on hold or transferred also pays Twilio’s conference minutes). Try your own numbers in the calling cost calculator.
For a team of 3 people or fewer, ContactRoll Free costs nothing: 1,000 contacts, one pipeline, one support address, calling through your own Twilio account, and 500 marketing emails a month (Free’s limits). HubSpot’s free tools are for up to 2 users, with 2,000 marketing email sends a month that carry HubSpot’s branding. (HubSpot’s pricing page, read .)
Where HubSpot is strong
- Every edition includes HubSpot Credits for AI agents and automation, and Service Hub’s customer agent answers chat, email and forms. [5]
- Deep editions: up to 350 pipelines, 1,000 workflows and 100 knowledge bases on Enterprise, with skills-based routing and custom permission sets. [1]
- A large public app marketplace, and free CRM tools for a team that needs less. [6][5]

Switching from HubSpot
In HubSpot, open the list of records you want (contacts, companies or deals), then use Export. HubSpot sends a CSV, XLSX or XLS file of the records’ properties and associations, on every plan, to anybody with export permission. [7]
Calls, notes and other activities are exported separately. [7]
Then import the file into ContactRoll as a CSV file (save it as CSV first if it came out in another format). Files exported from HubSpot are matched as they come, including their company or account columns and their phone columns. ContactRoll shows, row by row, what the import would do before it writes anything, and people who unsubscribed stay unsubscribed.
Import your contacts from a CSV file walks through it, and the CSV contact cleaner merges repeated addresses first if your file has them.
Questions
Is ContactRoll a HubSpot alternative for a small team?
For a team of 10 to 25 that sells, answers support email, takes calls and sends marketing email, yes: one product does all four, at $59 a person a month on Plus, paid yearly, with calls billed by Twilio to your own account. HubSpot goes much further for large teams, with deeper editions, AI agents and a big app marketplace.
Can I bring my HubSpot contacts to ContactRoll?
Yes. Export your contacts or companies from HubSpot as a CSV file, then import it into ContactRoll: HubSpot’s columns, including company and phone columns, are matched as they come, and ContactRoll shows what each row will do before it writes anything.
